摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element positioning method capable of improving a coupling efficiency by simple adjustment while taking into account restriction in the size of a magnetic recording head.SOLUTION: The optical element positioning method is used for the positioning of a magnetic recording head that comprises a light source outputting light above a slider having an optical waveguide in a direction substantially orthogonal to the optical waveguide, and an optical element having curvature only in a predetermined direction in a radiation range of light from the light source and having a reflection surface for reflecting the light from the light source. The optical element positioning method includes a positioning step and a fixing step. The positioning step moves the optical element to one direction with respect to the light source, and performs positioning of the optical element for the light source so as to couple the light from the light source at an incident end of the optical waveguide by the reflection surface. The fixing step fixes the light source and the optical element while being positioned.
