PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material which enables compatibility of wetting spreadability with adhesiveness of active ray-curable ink.SOLUTION: A coating material includes a substrate and an ink receiving layer arranged on the surface of a substrate. The arithmetic average roughness Ra1 of the surface of the ink receiving layer is 400-3,000 nm, measured by JIS B 0601. With the measurement range as 30 μm×30 μm and the pixel data as 512×512, the arithmetic average roughness Ra2 of the surface of the ink receiving layer is 70-500 nm, measured with an atomic force microscope.
