PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a glass substrate of a magnetic disk, which does not cause linear scratches on a side wall face perpendicularly crossing a main face among end faces of the glass substrate, and capable of generating small surface roughness.SOLUTION: End faces of the glass substrate includes a side wall face which perpendicularly crosses the main face of the glass substrate, and an interposed face which is interposed between the main face and the side wall face. In an end face polishing process which is performed in the manufacturing method for the glass substrate of the magnetic disk, the polishing is performed by relatively moving a polishing brush and the glass substrate while supplying a polishing liquid containing free abrasives between the polishing brush and the glass substrate. The end face polishing process includes a first process for polishing at least the interposed face, and a second process for polishing the side wall face in a state maintaining the surface roughness of the interposed face after the first process. |
