PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a second afterimage after generating an initial DC afterimage in an IPS (in-plane switching) system liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: An alignment layer 113 is formed to have a two-layer structure of an upper alignment layer 1131 and a lower alignment layer. The upper alignment layer 1131 is a photo-alignment layer and is formed using a polyamide acid ester as a precursor. The lower alignment layer 1132 has resistance lower than that of the upper alignment layer 1131 as well as lower photoconductivity characteristics. The lower alignment layer 1132 is formed, not using polyamide acid derived from PMDA (pyromellitic dianhydride) as the precursor but using the polyamide acid having a sulfonic acid group or a carboxyl group as the precursor. Thereby, in a pixel, the difference of resistance between a portion irradiated with light and a portion not irradiated with the light is decreased, to prevent generation of a second afterimage.
|
