1. An apparatus for sorting droplets, comprising:
a main flow channel; a carrier fluid in said main flow channel; a droplet maker connected to said main flow channel that provides a flow stream of said carrier fluid and said droplets in said main flow channel wherein said droplets have substantially the same diameter and wherein said droplets include first droplets containing a material and second droplets that do not contain said material; an analyzer; a waste channel; and a droplet sorter that sorts said droplets according to said first droplets containing said material and directs said first droplets containing said material to said analyzer and sorts said droplets according to said second droplets that do not contain said material and directs said second droplets that do not contain said material to said waste channel.
