PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for a ceramic honeycomb structure which improves a PM capture rate at the start initial stage after a ceramic honeycomb filter is regenerated and reduces an increase in pressure drop when PMs are captured.SOLUTION: In order to manufacture a honeycomb-shaped ceramic structure by press-molding a green body containing a cordieritized raw material and a pore-forming material, the cordieritized raw material is made to contain silica of 15-25 mass% to have an average particle diameter of 20-30 μm for the silica, 5 mass% or less of particles with a particle diameter of 10 mass% or less, 5 mass% or less of particles with a particle diameter of 100 μm or more, particle-size distribution deviation SD of 0.5 or less, and sphericity of 0.5 or more; and an amount of the pore-forming material is set to 5-40 mass% with respect to the cordieritized raw material to make the pore-forming material have an average particle diameter of 15-50 μm, 10 mass% or less of particles with a particle diameter of 5 μm or less, 5 mass% or less of particles with a particle diameter of 80 μm or more, particle-size distribution deviation SD of 0.5 or less, and sphericity of 0.5 or more. |
