<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a normal image data even when a glossy manuscript having irregularities is read.SOLUTION: In an image reading device for generating image data of an image on a manuscript by irradiating the manuscript with reading light from an LED (Light Emitting Diode), and moving a carriage for receiving the reflection light of the reading light in the sub-scanning direction, a manuscript portion where the reflection light is abnormal is detected by comparing first image data read by reciprocating the carriage in the sub-scanning direction with second image data read by moving the carriage on the return path in the sub-scanning direction while reducing the amount of the reading light with which the manuscript is irradiated, and the first image data corresponding to the abnormal manuscript portion is replaced by third image data, obtained by adjusting at least the brightness of the second image data, by image correction means 6.</p> |
