The present invention relates to an event detection device and a method for same for a vehicle black box. According to the present invention, a non-traffic accident is distinguished and the occurring impact event is disregarded when an external impact occurs to a vehicle such that the ability to distinguish the impact event can be improved, and event image management efficiency and accuracy of traffic accident analysis can be improved. According to the present invention, the event detection device and a method for the same for a vehicle black box includes: an impact event detection method including a first step wherein location information corresponding to safe driving information is read when the vehicle reaches a safe driving information guide position; a second step wherein it is determined whether the current location of the vehicle has passed a position corresponding to the safe driving information using the location information corresponding to the safe driving information, vehicle speed, and time elapsed after reaching the safe driving information guide position; and a third step wherein it is determined whether the position corresponding to the safe driving information is identical to the current location of the vehicle using the location information corresponding to the safe driving information, the vehicle speed, and the predetermined time elapsed after reaching the safe driving information guide position in a case where the impact event occurs in a state where the current location of the vehicle has not passed the position corresponding to the safe driving information, the impact event being disregarded in a case where the position corresponding to the safe driving information is identical to the current location of the vehicle, and a device for the same. |
