PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate connecting work by reducing required extra length of optical fibers and yet secure sufficient butting force of the optical fibers acting on each other.SOLUTION: An optical fiber connection tool comprises an optical fiber connection unit 10 and a connection jig 110 having an optical fiber securing section 90. The optical fiber connection unit 10 has a first sag width L1 formed between one end of a mechanical splice 30 and an optical fiber gripping section 70, and a second sag width L2 shorter than the first sag width L1 is secured between the other end of the mechanical splice 30 and the optical fiber securing section 90 when optical fibers are placed face-to-face.
