PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a zinc negative electrode which is arranged so that the change in shape and form of an active material can be adequately suppressed by introducing a solid electrolyte onto an active material layer and/or to inside the layer, and which enables the formation of a battery adequately improved in battery performance; and a battery arranged by use of the zinc negative electrode.SOLUTION: A zinc negative electrode comprises: a current collector; an active material layer including zinc compounds; and a solid electrolyte on the active material layer and/or inside it. The solid electrolyte includes at least one compound selected from a group consisting of multivalent ions, inorganic compounds and nitrogen-containing organic compounds. The multivalent ions and/or inorganic compounds include at least one element selected from elements of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Groups II to XIV, P, Sb, Bi, Group XVI, and Group XVII of the periodic table. |
