PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of reducing energy consumption.SOLUTION: A refrigerator includes: a first coolant circuit in which a condenser 21, a main expansion valve 31 and an evaporator 41 are successively connected with a first coolant pipe line 3 and the evaporator 41 is connected to a two-stage compressor 11; a second coolant circuit in which a second coolant pipe line 4 being branched between the condenser 21 and the main expansion valve 31 and allowing a part of coolant to be circulated therethrough is connected to the two-stage compressor 11; an electric motor 15 which is stored in a housing 16 of the two-stage compressor 11 and drives the two-stage compressor 11; an electric motor cooling expansion valve 71 which adjusts flow rate of coolant circulating through the second coolant pipe line 4; and a controller 91 which controls an opening of the electric motor cooling expansion valve 71. Therein, the second coolant pipe line 4 supplies coolant to the electric motor 15, and the controller 91 controls the opening of the electric motor cooling expansion valve 71 in accordance with a change rate per unit time of electric characteristics related to the drive of the electric motor 15. |
