Provided are an apparatus and a method for controlling a driving roll of a casting equipment. A driving roll controlling apparatus of a casing equipment comprises: a load distributing module for calculating the target speed of each driving roll motor based on an average torque ratio which is the average value of a torque ratio where a load torque, which is applied to each driving motor inside a casting equipment for drawing a slab, is divided by a regular torque of the driving roll motor; and a motor controlling module for controlling the speed of each driving roll motor to track the calculated target speed. Therefore, the driving roll controlling apparatus is capable of preventing a load from being concentrated on a specific driving roll motor, while precisely controlling a load torque at the same time. The described properties are especially useful for a casting equipment having a driving roll motor having different capacities at each location.
