PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly output an approximate route approximate to a dynamic route based on present traffic information. SOLUTION: A route guide system includes: traffic situation classification means for classifying traffic situations into a plurality of traffic situation patterns based on time-based traffic information; route database generation means for storing all routes for all combinations between a plurality of points in a route database correspondingly to each of the plurality of traffic situation patterns; traffic situation collation means for outputting a specific traffic situation pattern based on the present traffic information from the plurality of traffic situation patterns; route information retrieval means for retrieving a first route from a departure place up to a destination on the basis of the specific traffic situation pattern; comparison means for comparing an index based on the present traffic information with a reference based on the specific traffic situation pattern; a dynamic route search means for searching a second route from the departure place up to the destination on the basis of the present traffic information; and route information distribution means for distributing the first route or the second route to an external device in accordance with a compared result between the index and the reference.
