PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an acid-modified olefinic aqueous dispersion in which the particle diameter of the aqueous dispersion of an acid-modified polymeric material can be small, the amount of an unemulsified product can be little, and the viscosity can be decreased. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing an acid-modified olefinic aqueous dispersion is characterized as follows. The temperature of a first kneading process that obtains a kneaded product by melting/kneading an acid-modified polymeric material (P) containing a first acid-modified olefinic polymer (A) having an acid group and an anionic surfactant (C) is at least the melting point. The temperature of a second kneading process in which a basic substance (D) and water (E) are added to the kneaded product, and are melted/kneaded is at most the melting point, and the addition amount of water (E) is 10-22 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the first acid-modified olefinic polymer (A).
