[Class 82(ii)] In a method of froth flotation there is delivered to a zone of centrifugal action pulp together with an aerating gas at a pressure greater than atmospheric but less than the hydrostatic pressure at the zone of centrifugal influence. As shown pulp is fed into a space 45 of cell C from which it flows through a pipe 53 to an impellor 38. Air under a pressure greater than atmospheric but less than the hydrostatic pressure of the pulp at the impellor is admitted to a pipe 52 surrounding .the impellor drive shaft 39, mixed with the pulp and entrained therein in small bubbles by the action of the impellor. A valve 61, or an arched casting, Fig. 1 (not shown) is fitted in the feed chamber of each cell to prevent escape of gas through the pulp feed. A double seal 70 prevents escape of gas along the shaft. Two or more cells may be operated in series.
