A rotary reactor device for conversion of hydrocarbons has a housing 2 which encloses a reaction chamber 10, a mixing element 3 disposed inside the reaction chamber wherein the mixing element coupled to a rotatable shaft 15, and a plurality of bearings 1 receive the shaft such that each bearing is disposed outside the reaction chamber and a barrier is disposed between the reaction chamber and the bearing nearest to the reaction chamber. Ideally, the barrier comprises an oil chamber 7 and sealing device. The oil chamber comprises an inlet and an outlet 13, 14 for the circulation of oil which is maintained at a fluid pressure the same as the reaction chamber. The seal device comprises a seal chamber 4 which contains a sliding ring seal and has inlet and outlet 11, 12 channels for circulating lubricant at a pressure higher than the pressure within the reaction chamber. The mixing element is an impellor. The device is operable as a liquid-ring pump. A system for hydrocarbon conversion includes the rotary reactor, and an additional circuit for cleaning and recycling process fluid. |
