Disclosed is an optical element wherein an oscillation wavelength can be finely adjusted. The optical element is provided with: a strain-applying section (11), which sequentially has a substrate (21) composed of a semiconductor or a conductor, an insulator layer (22) having a part removed therefrom, and a semiconductor layer (23) having a shape of a beam (31) on the upper surface of the portion having the insulator layer removed therefrom; and a light source (12) for a semiconductor light guide, said light source being formed on the upper surface of the beam (31). A strain is generated in the beam (31) by applying an electrical field between the substrate (21) and the beam (31), and a strain is generated in the light source (12). Since the oscillation wavelength of the light source (12) varies corresponding to strain applied thereto, the oscillation wavelength of the light source (12) is changed depending on the quantity of the strain applied by means of the strain-applying section (11). |
