<p>A process for case hardening alloyed or unalloyed steels comprises carburizing a steel containing 0.05 to 0.5% of aluminium and made by the process described and claimed in the parent Specification at 900 DEG C. to 1000 DEG C. for between 5 and 20 hours. The carburizing agent may be solid liquid or gaseous and the steel may be quenched directly from the carburizing temperature or may be quenched to an intermediate temperature. It is stated that there is little or no grain growth during the carburizing.</p> |
