PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm whether damage is present on the lateral edge face of a metal ring or a metal belt constituted by laminating a plurality of the metal rings. SOLUTION: This inspection device 30 for the lateral edge face is equipped with a first fixed roller 32a, a second fixed roller 32b and a movable roller 32c. These rollers 32a-32c have roller bodies 98a-98c and the flange members 96a-96c provided in the lower bases of the roller bodies 98a-98c. The roller bodies 98a-98c are reduced in diameter in tapered states toward the flange members 96a-96c. When the rollers 32a-32c are rotationally operated after the metal belt 12 trained over the rollers 32a-32c is tensioned by the movement of the movable roller 32c, the lateral edge face 22a on the lower side of the metal belt 12 is seated on each of upper end surfaces of the flange members 96a-96c.
