1. A method for synchronizing a clock signal, the method comprising:
receiving, at a node in a packet network, data traffic through a first channel of a fiber optic; receiving, at the node, a clock signal through a second channel of the fiber optic; disciplining a clock at the node with the clock signal; sending the clock signal from the clock to one or more interfaces within the node; communicating the clock signal from the clock to one or more slave clocks of the node through a timing bus, wherein the clock is a master clock, wherein the one or more slave clocks are updated using the clock signal from the clock; communicating the clock signal to another node; and performing synchronous communications between the node in the packet network with one or more time domain multiplexing (TDM) networks using the clock signal. |
