The system may further transmit the file to a set top box, where transmitting the file allows the set top box to access the hierarchical representation of categories and subcategories without retrieving, from the video provisioning system, additional information associated with the hierarchical representation of categories and subcategories. |

receiving data indicating a hierarchical representation of categories and subcategories associated with a catalog of video assets via the VPS; creating a first file that includes the data indicating the hierarchical representation of the categories and the subcategories, wherein the first file does not include metadata associated with the video asset; and transmitting the first file to a set top box. |
