PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle thread tension adjusting device of a sewing machine which is low in cost and has a wide range of application, which allows sewing cloth to be comfortably moved during the course of embroidery sewing or the like, which does not cause a presser lifting lever to be left unreturned, and which allows trial sewing while power is turned off.SOLUTION: A needle thread tension adjusting device 1 of a sewing machine includes: a pair of thread tension discs 21 and 22 which are arranged within an exterior panel and hold a needle thread therebetween; an energizing member 25 which energizes the pair of thread tension discs into a contact state of being in contact with each other under pressure, thereby generating tension in the needle thread; and a thread releasing action member 3 which is operated by a thread releasing lever 36 movable in conjunction with the lifting operation of a presser lifting lever and drives the pair of thread tension discs into an open state of being separated from each other against the energizing member 25, thereby releasing the tension in the needle thread. The needle thread tension adjusting device 1 further includes an operating member 4 which is separated from the thread releasing action member, and which has one end thereof (an operating arm 41) capable of driving the pair of thread tension discs from the contact state into the open state and has the other end thereof (an operating knob 45) extended from the exterior panel to the outside and capable of being manually operated. |
