PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam driven rotary machine which can brake a steam motor and can quickly respond to variation of load.SOLUTION: A steam driven rotary machine includes a rotary machine 2 which is constituted with a blower or a pump, an electric motor 3 which drives the rotary machine 2, a steam motor 4 which generates power by using steam and drives the rotary machine 2 in place of the electric motor 3 or in addition to the same. The steam motor 4 is configured such that an output shaft of the steam motor 4 can perform positive rotation by using steam and the positive rotation can perform the braking in the reverse direction by using steam. Based on torque of the electric motor 3, the output of the steam motor 4 can be adjusted by controlling a positively rotating steam flow rate regulation valve 14 and a braking steam flow rate regulation valve 15. |
