PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder that enables a V-shape groove portion to be accurately and easily processed.SOLUTION: On an outer circumferential surface 2 of an encoder 1, a plurality of sets of detected sections 5 is formed at an equal interval in a circumferential direction that has a pair of groove portions 4 tilted at the almost same angle in a mutually reverse direction with respect to an axial direction of the encoder 1 so that the mutual interval in the circumferential direction consecutively varies in the axial direction. Further, on the outer circumferential surface 2 of the encoder 1, at a position apart from both edges 2a in the axial direction, a pair of circumferential grooves 6 is formed that is respectively continuous to both ends in the axial direction of each groove portion 4 of the plurality of sets of detected sections. |
