PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving vertical lathe that is capable of processing even a shaft workpiece with high accuracy and high efficiency and is excellent in chip discharge.SOLUTION: A vertical lathe 1 includes a column 8 and a plurality of tool rests 3L and 3R. The tool rest 3L and 3R are disposed on the column 8 and respectively include fast head stocks 20L and 20R and tail stocks 21L and 21R vertically oppositely disposed to the fast head stocks 20L and 20R. The tool rests 3L and 3R respectively include: a plurality of workpiece attaching parts 2L and 2R for attaching workpieces WL and WR which are respectively disposed between the fast head stocks 20L and 20R and the tail stocks 21L and 21R; and turrets 31L and 31R capable of indexing a predetermined angle correspondingly to the workpiece attaching parts 2L and 2R. |
