PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant applicator which reliably detects that lubricant has reached the end of service life.SOLUTION: A case 32 houses an application roller 30 which comes into contact with a surface of a photoreceptor drum 2 to apply solid lubricant 33, and a lubricant holding member 31 which moves in a direction of approaching/separating from the application roller 30 while holding the solid lubricant 33. An extension part 31a formed at a longitudinal end of the lubricant holding member 31 protrudes outward from a vertical long hole 32a as an opening formed on an end side wall of the case 32. A movable contact 35b of electric resistance detection means 35 arranged outside the case 32 is pushed by the extension part 31a to be brought into contact with a fixed contact 35a, thereby detecting the service life of the exhausted solid lubricant 33.
