To increase the maximum permissible axle load of a rail vehicle, the invention proposes that the ratio between the thickness (H) of the portion (9) of the wheel web (6) adjacent to the first recess (8) on the hub side and the thickness (h) of the portion (10) of the wheel web (6) in which the cross-sectional reduction (7) is at its greatest be at most 1.20.
