PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace quickly a main rope, when there is some probability that the main rope is deteriorated, in an elevator.SOLUTION: In a main rope inspection device 18 of an elevator 10 wound around a hoist 14, for driving a car 12 in the suspended state, a main rope 13 includes a metal strand. The main rope inspection device 18 includes a metal detector 19 for detecting metallic abrasion powder generated by friction between the main rope 13 and the hoist 14 during ascending/descending of the car 12, and an alarm device 20 for outputting a main rope confirmation signal, when the amount of metallic abrasion powder detected by the metal detector 19 exceeds a prescribed value. |
