PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kneader and a member for the kneader capable of suppressing costs and sufficiently obtaining abrasion resistance to a kneading material.SOLUTION: A kneader 1 to knead a kneading material W housed in a kneading room C with kneading rotors 4, 5 comprises: a chamber 2 partitioning the kneading room C from outside; a hard film 20 to cover an inner surface 2c facing the kneading room C of the chamber 2 and to be formed with a material having abrasion resistance to the kneading material W; and a protective member 21 to cover the edge part 20a of the hard film 20 at the inner surface 2c of the chamber 2 and to be formed with a material having higher toughness than a material forming the hard film 20.
