PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique enabling suppression of deterioration in image quality in generating an interpolation image of an input image containing a cycle pattern portion, independent of the category of the cycle pattern portion.SOLUTION: An image processing device, for use in generating an interpolation pixel of an input image, includes: pattern determination means for determining whether the input image contains a cycle pattern portion, on the basis of a difference in adjacent brightness of the input image; diagonal determination means for determining whether a generation position of an interpolation pixel is an edge portion in a diagonal direction; and generation means for generating an interpolation pixel and applying diagonal interpolation processing to a position where there is a motion in an image and where the diagonal determination means determines an edge portion in a diagonal direction. Further, if the pattern determination means determines that the input image contains a cycle pattern portion, the generation means generates an interpolation pixel without performing diagonal interpolation processing. |
