The present invention relates to an operational device comprising a number of individually moveable sub-units remotely controlled by a remote control device capable of communicating with the operational device via a communication link. The remote control device comprises one or more control elements for controlling the operation of the sub-units. A control unit determines the relative orientation of the remote control device and thus the operator using an orientation unit located on each of the two devices. The control unit continuously adapts the configuration of the control elements to the relative orientation of the operator. This allows the operator to control the sub-units in an intuitive manner where the sub-unit performs a corresponding reaction to the activation of the control element. This reduces the risk of an accident and any unintended movement of the sub-unit.
