PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine and a control method for the same that enable enhancement of estimation accuracy of NOx emission amount by considering a mixing temperature of intake air from an intake passage located before an intake manifold and recirculated exhaust gas.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an ECU having an emission amount estimation control part that performs a predetermined procedure of signal processing, arithmetic processing and estimation of NOx emission amount on the basis of sensor output from an intake/exhaust system of the internal combustion engine. The emission amount estimation control part includes: an NOx amount temporary estimation part for determining temporary estimation amount of the NOx emission amount from the speed of the internal combustion engine and fuel injection amount at normal time; a correction value identification part for determining a correction value of the NOx emission amount from the speed of the internal combustion engine and the fuel injection amount in transition, an intake oxygen concentration and a temperature of a mixture of intake air and EGR gas; and an NOx amount estimation part for determining estimation amount of the NOx emission amount in transition on the basis of the temporary estimation amount of the NOx emission amount obtained by the NOx amount temporary estimation part and the correction value of the NOx emission amount obtained by the correction value identification part. |
