The invention relates to a method for detecting and/or quantifying at least one Legionella host in a sample, the method including: at least one step of amplification by means of a chain polymerisation reaction from one or more pairs of primers of host nucleotides capable of hybridising conserved sequences of said hosts; and a step of detecting and/or quantifying one or more amplified fragments of said conserved sequences, characterised in that at least one of said one or more pairs of host nucleotide primers is specific to at least one species of Legionella hosts.
