The present invention relates to a parking management system and a parking management method, which perform a parking management by using a camera with a parking space recognition function. The parking management method comprises the steps of: setting, for the camera installed at a high position overlooking a parking lot, parking region information including at least one parking space including a motion detection region and virtual vehicle entry/exit lines outside the at least parking space; determining, from a parking lot image captured by the camera, the presence or absence of a vehicle parking in the parking space and a position of an empty parking space based on motion detection event information for the parking space and event information generated upon contact with the virtual vehicle entry/exit lines; and providing the result of determination as to the presence or absence of the vehicle parking in the parking space and the position of the empty parking space as UI information. |
