COOLING APPARATUS AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF

A refrigerator includes: a carbonated water tank storing carbonated water; a water tank supplying purified water to the carbonated water tank; a carbon dioxide cylinder which supplies carbon dioxide to the carbonated water tank; a dispenser which discharges the carbonated water tank or purified water; and a control unit which generates the purified water by supplying the purified water to the carbonated water tank and supplying the carbon dioxide to the carbonated water tank upon the completion of the purified water supply operation. The control unit is used to stop the carbonated water generation operation which a purified water discharge command is input from a user or the door is opened while the carbonated water is generated. The refrigerator can selectively obtain purified water and carbonated water and stop generating the carbonated water when the refrigerator door is opened. Accordingly, the present invention can prevent a user from misunderstand a failure of the refrigerator.
