The present invention relates to a bankbook printer with a passport recognizing function and an operating method thereof. Provided in the present invention are the bankbook printer with a passport recognizing function which automatically processes the recognition of a passport by determining whether or not an inserted medium is a bankbook or a passport and then transmits the passport information to an external display device or a server in case of a passport, and the operating method thereof. The bankbook printer with a passport recognizing function comprises: a sensing unit which senses an inserted medium; a scanning unit which scans the medium sensed by the sensing unit; a control unit which analyzes images of the medium scanned by the scanning unit in order to determine whether the medium is a bankbook or a passport, and activates a printing unit in case of a bankbook or controls a communication unit to transmit the relevant information to the outside in case of a passport; a printing unit which prints information to be recorded in the bankbook; and a communication unit which transmits the passport information to the outside. |
