Provided are an operation assistance system, an operation assistance method, and a computer program, which allow a selection by a simple operation of a selection object candidate which a user intends to select. Selection candidate objects, such as GUI buttons or icons, are divided into a plurality of groups and displayed upon a liquid-crystal display (15). If an operation is received by a jog wheel (45), a switch is made in an order following the received operation to the group which includes the object to be selected, and a sequential switch is made, among the plurality of selection candidate objects which is included in the group, of the selection objects in the order following the received operation. Meanwhile, if the operation is received by a direction input key (46), the switch is made to the group which includes the selection object in an order following the received operation, and the switch of the selection object is not carried out within the group. |
