摘要 An infrared-sensitive chromogenic composition which comprises a compound (A) that has an infrared-absorbing skeleton and a thermochromic skeleton in the molecule, the infrared-absorbing skeleton being bonded to the thermochromic skeleton by covalent bonding or ionic bonding, and a binder (B); and an infrared-curable chromogenic composition which comprises the infrared-sensitive chromogenic composition that further contains a free-radical initiator (C) and a polymerizable compound (D). The photosensitive chromogenic composition and the curable chromogenic composition assume a color in a high density upon exposure to light from an infrared laser and less suffer color fading with time. Also provided are: a lithographic printing plate precursor which has an image-recording layer comprising the infrared-curable chromogenic composition; and a plate formation method which comprises imagewise exposing the lithographic printing plate precursor to infrared light and then subjecting the precursor to on-press development to thereby produce a lithographic printing plate. This lithographic printing plate precursor, which has the curable chromogenic composition as an image-recording layer, brings about extremely high plate inspection properties, has satisfactory storage stability to retain the high color-assuming properties, is excellent also in terms of on-press developability, and provides a lithographic printing plate having satisfactory printing durability. With the plate formation method, a lithographic printing plate is produced from the lithographic printing plate precursor.
