PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging system capable of quickly generating a space map of an eddy current field, and a method therefor.SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging system of an embodiment includes a control unit and a processing unit. The control unit executes a pre-sequence for applying tugging pulses to an object body after applying an inclined magnetic field for inducing an eddy current field in a system, and executes a data collection sequence for collecting data from the object body subsequent to the pre-sequence. The processing unit generates an eddy current field map indicating a spatial distribution of the eddy current field on the basis of the data collected by the data collection sequence.
