This pneumatic radial tire for a passenger vehicle is provided with a carcass comprising radial cord plies extending toroidally between a pair of bead parts. The pneumatic radial tire is characterized in that: when the tire is fitted on a rim, and the internal pressure is 250 kPa or higher, the section width (SW) and the outer diameter (OD) of the tire satisfy a prescribed relationship; the tire has a central land section block and two outer land section blocks on a tread surface; the central land section block is a rib-like land section that is continuous in the tread circumferential direction, and has central lug grooves that are open at one of two circumferential main grooves and terminate inside the central land section block; and the outer land section blocks are rib-like land sections that are continuous in the tread circumferential direction, and have outer lug grooves that are open at contact patches in the tire width direction and terminate in the outer land section blocks, and have outer auxiliary lug grooves that are open at the circumferential main grooves dividing the outer land section blocks, that are narrower than the outer lug grooves, and that extend in the tread width direction. |
