Disclosed are a data transmission method and a data forwarding apparatus. The present invention relates to the field of communications, which can reduce power consumption of the data forwarding apparatus. The method comprises: a data forwarding apparatus receiving, by using a data access module, data sent by at least one client, and sending the data received by using the data access module to a data temporary storage module for storage; when it is determined that a storage status of the data in the data temporary storage module meets a sending requirement, sending a data sending instruction to a data sending module by using the data temporary storage module; and sending, according to the data sending instruction, the data stored in the data temporary storage module by using the data sending module.
