An embodiment of the present invention relates to an electrophoretic display (EPD) device and manufacturing method thereof. The EPD device comprises an electrophoretic substrate and a drive substrate oppositely disposed, and a plurality of microcups located between the electrophoretic substrate and the drive substrate; each microcup comprises a cup body having a limited accommodation space; the cup body thickness of one side of the microcup adjacent to the electrophoretic substrate is less than the cup body thickness of one side of the microcup adjacent to the drive substrate; and the cup surface of the microcup is a surface cambered away from the vertical central axis of the microcup, with the arc recessed inside the cup body.
