PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of a user by informing a client device connected to an imaging apparatus via a network of effect that the imaging apparatus uses additional information on insertion/extraction of an infrared ray cutoff filter.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus which can be connected to a client device via a network includes: an imaging optical system 2; an imaging device 6; an IRCF driving circuit 24 which inserts/extracts IRCF 4 into/from an optical path of the imaging optical system 2; a communication circuit 14 for receiving an automatic insertion/extraction control instruction for allowing the imaging apparatus to automatically control insertion/extraction of the IRCF 4 and additional information on the insertion/extraction of the IRCF 4 from the client device; and a communication circuit 14 which transmits operation information showing whether use of the additional information received in the communication circuit 14 by the imaging apparatus is a case where the IRCF 4 is inserted into the optical path, a case where the IRCF 4 is extracted from the optical path or both cases of insertion and extraction to the client device.
