The method involves providing a substrate (104) e.g. plastic film or sheet paper, to a backplane. A counter-electrode of the backplane and a connecting line are placed on the substrate using additive method. The connecting line is provided to form a continuous electrically conductive connection between the counter electrode and an external connection contact of the backplane. Thickness of the substrate is set below 500 micrometer. A graphic element (106) and the connecting line are placed on a surface of the substrate for forming a graphic print layer.
