The present invention relates to an air conditioner and a control method thereof. The air conditioner according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an indoor heat exchanger which enables the heat exchange between the indoor air and a refrigerant to evaporate the refrigerant; a drain fan which is arranged on the lower end of the indoor heat exchanger to collect the condensed water formed on the surface of the indoor heat exchanger; an electrode unit which detects the capacitance varied by a change in the level of the condensed water to detect the level of the condensed water collected in the drain fan; and a circuit substrate which has the electrode unit and is mounted on the outer side wall of the drain fan.
