PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which exhibits high luminous efficiency and has a long emission life, and to provide a lighting device and a display device using the organic EL element.SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element includes at least a light-emitting layer sandwiched between an anode and a cathode. The light-emitting layer contains an organic electroluminescent element material represented by general formula (1).
