<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing hydrogen, which is used in a method for decomposing ammonia to obtain hydrogen and can allow hydrogen to be produced efficiently by a self-sustaining reaction without being heated excessively, and to provide a method for producing hydrogen using the catalyst for producing hydrogen.SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing hydrogen, which is used for decomposing the ammonia in the gas containing ammonia and oxygen to produce hydrogen, contains at least one element selected from the group consisting of cobalt, nickel, iron and molybdenum as a catalyst component. An alkali metal, an alkaline-earth metal or a rare earth element can be added to the catalyst. At least one metal oxide selected from the group consisting of alumina, silica, zirconia, titania, ceria, lanthanum oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, barium oxide and strontium oxide can be incorporated in the catalyst.</p> |
