Disclosed are a secondary battery having improved capacity and safety by enabling a cap assembly and a battery case not to be welded, without having a beading portion formed thereon, and a manufacturing method therefor. The secondary battery according to the present invention is a secondary battery which does not have a beading portion formed thereon, the battery comprising: an electrode assembly in which an anode plate and a cathode pate are placed with a separator in between; a battery case comprising an upper can which stores the electrode assembly and an electrolyte in the interior space thereof, has the upper end and the lower end open, and has the upper end bent in the inward direction, and a lower sealing member which is coupled to the lower end of the upper can and seals the lower end; and a cap assembly comprising a top cap which is placed at the uppermost portion of the battery in a protruding form and forms an anode terminal, a safety vent of which the form changes at the lower portion of the top cap when the internal pressure of the battery case increases, and a gasket which covers the edges of the top cap and the safety vent. |
