<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which estimates toner consumption on the basis of a halftone image with high accuracy, while preventing influence of changes in output density characteristics.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: count means which counts the number of pixels for each gray level in a halftone image corresponding to an input image; determination means which determines a halftone area in the halftone image; acquisition means which acquires gray-scale characteristics information of output density of the image forming apparatus: correction means which determines an average value of density in an area formed by use of developer from the number of pixels for each gray level and the halftone area information, to correct the density average value according to the gray-scale characteristics information; and first estimation means which determines an accumulated density value of the area formed by use of the developer by using the density average value corrected by the correction means, to estimate the amount of developer to be consumed on the basis of the accumulated density value.</p> |
