The purpose of the present invention is to provide, without any increase in costs, a portable electronic device capable of determining which display device a user wishes to use, from among a plurality of display devices. This portable electronic device is provided with: a first display device disposed in a first casing; a second display device disposed in a second casing connected to the first casing; a touch detector which detects whether a user has touched either the first casing or the second casing; and a controller which activates the first display device or the second display device on the basis of a detection result from the touch detector.
